Welcome to Earth Club

Earth Club
  • In Earth Club we have a lot of fun!  We also discuss environmental issues, do a ton of service work and field trips, and volunteer for events such as Waterfest and Phalen Freeze. Recent activities include apple picking, hiking, snowshoeing, camping, and canoeing. We work with city environmental organizations doing restoration work in public land and native plant areas.

    The details:;

    Earth Club works with many organizations including: Wildernes Inquiry; Ramsey Washington Metro Watershed District; Minnesota Department of Natural Resources; St Paul Parks and Recreation; Friends of the Mississippi; and others interested in the natural environment.

    Earth Club members use science, math, reading, and writing skills to investigate school and community issues. We plant Native Plant Gardens, help restore shoreline, raise vegetable and herbs for the school cafeteria and sell vegetable and herb plants to staff, students and community members. We completed an inventory of the trees on Harding's property. Since the majority of Harding's trees are Ash, we are keeping a close eye on the trees watching for invasive species such as the Emerald Ash Borer.

    Field trips are an important part of Earth Club activities. We visit National Parks including Yellowstone, state parks, local parks, go camping, annually visit a horse stable, plant gardens, explore geocaching, do clean-ups and every year we volunteer at Waterfest. We meet Wednesday afterschool almost every week.
