Aaniin! Hej! (for the Swedes out there)

I am the support-school counselor with the AIS program. I work primarily with AIS 10th - 12th graders, collaborate with students' alphabet counselor, and work with families and students to enhance their experience at Harding. Many year ago, I  worked under SPPS's Indian Education program. I've been a licensed school counselor for about 25 years.

I was born in the suburbs of the Twin Cities, but grew up on the White Earth Anishinaabe Reservation in northwestern Minnesota. After graduating from Waubun High School (go Bombers! now-Thunderbirds!) I studied psychology and American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. After college, I worked as a special education EA at our tribal school before attending graduate school for Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where I received my Masters and Education Specialist degrees.

I've worked for Robbinsdale, Minneapolis, and St. Paul school districts over the span of my career. My work focuses on helping students learn about their history and empowering them to reach their potential. Other areas of interest in my work are educational history (boarding schools), trauma and healing, and mindfulness.
