Our Class News

In Reader's Workshop, we will read, "Sneezy the Snowman.” Our teaching focus for this story is to help students understand that stories often have problems to be solved. We will identify the problems and solutions. We will also pay close attention to the setting, characters, and plot in the story. These things help us understand the story or any other story we might read.

We will finish Module 6 next week in Math Workshop. Children have been working on using addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

We are about ready to begin our next writing unit, learning about writing informational text. Learning targets addressed are naming a topic and writing about it. Each student will be able to explain a topic with some facts. We begin by working on an informational book together. Get ready to learn amazing walrus facts!
