The Social Studies Department at Hidden River Middle School provides instruction for students to develop a sense of the world around them through study of three major topics:

• 6th Grade: Minnesota History
• 7th Grade: US History
• 8th Grade: Global Studies

In addition, we also participate in History Day and Model UN as part of our classes.

Middle Years Program- International Baccalaureate

The Middle Years Programme is a part of international education designed to help students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world.

This period is a particularly critical phase of personal and intellectual development and requires a programme that helps students participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. Learning how to learn and how to evaluate information critically is as important as learning facts.

The IB-MYP objectives for social studies classes are used by teachers when they are assessing student work.
