French Immersion

  • Hidden River Middle School is home to the district middle level immersion program in French. We work in collaboration with L’Etoile du Nord French Immersion and Central High School to offer students a path towards bilingualism.

Students will continue to improve their French literacy skills in two classes. These classes meet Minnesota standards and are taught by French native speakers teachers licensed in the content subject. In addition to having several French speaking staff at Hidden River, we are fortunate to have an internship program with the French Department of Macalester College.  College students fluent in French earn credits by helping in classrooms.

We all participate in a fun competition among immersion students in the country by doing the Grand Concours. We are also giving back by presenting at the Minnesota zoo French day.

Every year, our students enjoy the comfort of the Immersion community and are also excited to join the Hidden River community: History Day, Geography Bee, Science Fair, Math competition, Web (leadership), sports, Flipside and more.
