Teaching in Haiti
  • Greetings.  I began teaching at Hidden River Middle School in November, 2018.  I love being a part of this school and the IB/MYP success that the staff and curriculum inspire in students. I have a BA in English Education from The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND and a MA in English from Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ as well as additional education credits from Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN.  I have taught many levels of students and learners, including middle school, high school and college.

When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I am also involved with Eagle Brook Church and care ministries.  Since I started teaching at Hidden River, I have become a fan of  Marvel movies.  I also enjoy reading a great deal and spending time outdoors when it isn't -50 degrees.  I play on two softball teams in Saint Paul in the summer and fall as well. The picture features some of the kids I taught in Haiti, my co-teachers and myself.

Recently, my husband and I became foster parents and have enjoyed the kids who we have had stay with us until they could return to family. Other info about me; I currently live in Circle Pines, which is not far from Saint Paul.  I grew up on a small farm outside of Barnesville, MN and have 3 sisters, a brother and 9 nieces and nephews.

I am proud to be a teacher at Hidden River Middle School.  The students are fantastic young scholars.  The other teachers and administrators are passionate, caring and determined to make a difference not only in the lives of our students but our community as well.

"Everyone who remembers his/her own education remembers teachers, not methods and techniques. The teacher is the heart of the educational system." - Sidney Hook (author, philosopher)
