Welcome to 3^rd Grade!

I am very excited to be teaching third grade! I am a teacher who is constantly trying new things and enjoys finding new ways to engage students in learning. My favorite thing about third grade is seeing the students mature as learners and take responsibility of their own learning. I look forward to working together with students, families and colleagues to make learning a successful experience and our classroom community strong!

This is my 14^th year of teaching and 8th year at Saint Paul Music Academy. Each day I look forward to spending time teaching eager 3^rd graders and working with a wonderful community of learners and supportive staff!

I am a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin – River Falls where I received my undergraduate degree in the area of elementary education and minor in Spanish. I also spent a semester studying early childhood education where I received my kindergarten certification from St. Catherine University in St. Paul. Last summer, I received my Master's Degree in Educational Technology from Concordia - St. Paul.  I am licensed to teach Kindergarten – 6^th grade. Because I see myself as a life-long learner, I am always looking for opportunities for personal and professional development and growth. 

When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, 8 year old son Tanner, 5 year old daughter Tenley and our English Bulldog, Zeus and Bernedoodle, Greta. My husband and I have a big heart for dogs as we have welcomed many foster dogs into our home over the years. I also enjoy playing on a women’s volleyball league every week. During the summer months, I love to travel with friends and family and lay by the pool or lake and enjoy the warmth and sunshine! I grew up in North St. Paul, MN and I still love going back for the “Friday Night Car Shows” in little downtown North St. Paul in the summer months. I now reside in Woodbury, MN and I love taking Tanner and Tenley for walks around the many neighborhood paths!

I love teaching at Saint Paul Music Academy because of the talented and supportive staff I have the opportunity to work with each day! I am also thankful for all of the students that give me inspiring stories to bring home each night. To me, SPMA is a wonderful school with so many amazing resources for families, students, and staff!
