Ms. Cox

Carla Cox began teaching for SPPS in 1985.  She received her BA in Elementary Education from Gustavus Adolphus College, a minor in Special Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato and her Master's in Special Education from the University of Minnesota.  She spent the first 25 years of her teaching career at Roosevelt Elementary as a Developmental Cognitive Disability teacher.  Following the closing of Roosevelt Elementary in 2010, Carla was reassigned to Como Park Elementary the following fall, September 2010.  She has been working with special education students with a variety of disabilities in either a resource room or self-contained setting.  She went back to school in 2014-2015 and received an additional license in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Saint Mary's University.

When Ms. Cox is not at school, she loves spending time with family and friends.  She enjoys skiing in the mountains and traveling to warm destinations in the winter.  In the summer, she enjoys gardening, boating, swimming, fishing and traveling.

Ms. Cox moved to Wisconsin in 1996.  She commutes to St. Paul each day.  Ms. Cox continues to live in Wisconsin with her husband, while her daughter lives in Seattle, WA.

Ms. Cox loves teaching and making a difference in the lives of her students.
