Hello Como families! My name is Kathryn Proper, and this is my first year teaching at Como Park Elementary! I am so excited to serve as the Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) teacher in Pre-K! I love all things Pre-K and cannot wait to help your little ones grow exponentially this year! We are going to have so much fun learning through play, making friends, and problem solving together. It is my goal to make sure every student I work with achieves their goals and has a positive experience in school. I love that a big part of my job is helping kids become as confident and independent as they can be! It is going to be an amazing year together!

I am a St. Paul native and went to Como Park Senior High School. A few of my siblings went to Como Park Elementary too! I love the Como community and am so glad to be a part of it now as a teacher. I graduated from St. Catherine University in 2021 with a bachelors degree in Exercise and Sport Science, and am currently working towards my masters degree in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of St. Thomas. Fun fact about me: I was a captain of my high school softball team and hold a number of pitching records for Como Park Senior High School! I played on the softball team as a student at St. Catherine University, and now I am back on the team as a coach!

In addition to Como Park Elementary, I will also be serving ECSE in Pre-K at Hamline Elementary.
