Welcome to First Grade!

Our curriculum:

Reading: We are using the UFLI Foundations program to build a strong foundation for future readers.  Children are instructed in small groups at their level.  They are learning skills that connect phonics, reading, and writing.

Writing: In first grade we work on narrative, informative, opinion, procedural writing, and poetry.

Math: We follow the new HMH math curriculum. 

Specialists: Students attend a 5-day specialist rotation. This includes science, art, music, technolgoy, and physical education. 

To enhance our curriculum, we use iPads to individualize learning. Some of the apps and sites we use are Raz-kids, Starfall, PebbleGo, Tumble Books, and Seesaw.
