Our Principal - Marcus Freeman

  • Mr. Freeman brings a wealth of experience in helping all students feel represented and accepted for who they are. He has served students in Saint Paul, in both the private and public sectors, for 13 years as an educational assistant, long-term substitute teacher, dean of students and activities director at Cretin-Derham Hall, an assistant principal for Ramsey Middle School, and most recently as principal for Galtier Community School. Mr. Freeman understands the importance of collaborating with staff and families and embracing the unique gifts that each student brings.  

    Throughout his career, Mr. Freeman has created schoolwide systems to improve student achievement and worked tirelessly to narrow the informational gap by engaging families of color to provide them with information to help make the best academic decisions for their child. Mr. Freeman values family engagement and has built relationships between students and staff to create a positive school culture.

    Mr. Freeman is committed to ensuring that the accelerated-academic and social-emotional needs for every student is met. He looks forward to partnering with families, students, staff and the community to continue the great work at Capitol Hill.

    Mr. Freeman has excellent academic qualifications with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Educational Leadership from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and an Educational Administration K-12 Principal Licensure from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota.
