Welcome to Elementary General/Vocal Music at Capitol Hill!

  • In Elementary Music Class, students sing, move, create, perform, compose, collaborate, analyze, write, discuss, stretch, and play as they grow in their artful musicianship. My goal with all students is to welcome them into the world of music and lead them through fun, creative, exhilarating, intriguing, and disciplined experiences that challenge them to think deeply and musically, to perhaps try new things or think in new ways, and to allow them to explore their own musicianship and the culture of musicianship.

All elementary Capitol Hill students use QuaverMusic, an online music curriculum adopted by SPPS.  Each student will have their own Quaver account that they access through the Clever app.  In addition, all students learn how to sing artfully and play many, many instruments including handheld percussion, drums, keyboards and xylophones.  Starting in 3rd grade students use recorders, and starting in 4th grade students use ukuleles.
