B.A. Music and Secondary Education Minnesota Teaching License: K-12 Classroom and Vocal Music K-12 Classroom and Instrumental Music

Jessica Erickson (she/her)

Hello! My name is Ms. Erickson, and I am so excited to be teaching here at Hazel Park Preparatory Academy. I graduated from Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD, with a degree in Secondary and Music Education with a license to teach vocal, instrumental, and classroom music. Throughout my career I have taught classroom and vocal music to every grade level, PreK-12. I started at HPPA in 2021 teaching music to our students in the PYP program and have enjoyed working with our wonderful scholars.

Music and performing have always been a part of my life. I have been a member of marching bands, concert bands, pep bands, and jazz bands from 5th grade until I graduated from college. I started playing piano in 2nd grade, clarinet in 5th grade, tenor saxophone in 9th grade. I have sung in many different choirs starting in middle school and are still performing today. I have sung with the USD Men's and Women's Chorus, the St. Kate's Choral Society, the Cathedral Choir at the Cathedral of St. Paul, and am currently a member of Minnesota's LGBTA One Voice Mixed Choir. I have also performed in a number of musicals, starting in elementary school.

I live in the Hamline Midway neighborhood in Saint Paul with my husband, daughter, and three cats. We spend a lot of family time together playing, reading books, watching movies, going to the zoo, swimming, playing at the park, or traveling to visit family.
