Developmental Cognitive Delay Teacher

Hi, students, families staff can call me Ms. Cailee (Kay-Lee). I've been teaching at Hazel Park as the Special Education Teacher since 2020. I'll be working with students with Developmental Cognitive Delay (DCD) in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) specifically working with students in 5th-8th Grade. Before Hazel Park I started my student teaching career in the Spring of 2017. I taught at many different schools in the Duluth school district and loved getting to create amazing learning environments with my students. I graduated from the University of Minnesiota Duluth in 2019 with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education (ages K-21). 

I'm getting married this October, I have already changed my name to reflect my upcoming wedding! My partner Sam and I are so excited! Together we share a cat named Simba. In my free time I love to read, paint, and listen to music.

Why HPPA? I love working in an I.B. school! My favorite student teaching experience was teaching abroad at an I.B. school in Ljubljana, Slovenia. My students had a passion for learning, we built an amazing community of world citizens, and I was so lucky to help my students find excitement and creativity in everything we did. I know my students here will have that passion and we will find a way for us to be inspired to learn more every day. I know that the most important part of being your teacher is establishing a relationship. I am so excited to get to know you! I can't wait to see what the school year will bring!
