Horace Mann School Lego Teams Compete

Two Horace Mann School Lego Robotics teams had a great Saint Paul Public Schools First Lego League tournament on Saturday, January 28. The two teams are made up of fourth and fifth graders. They began planning and working together in October. The teams learned how to design robots and did, how to code different activities and did, and how to present information around a theme.

There were 50 teams that competed with students ranging from fourth grade through eighth grade. They competed against teams who had been together since last spring. They competed against teams who had been participating for many years.

Many robot mission runs did not go as expected. The teams learned a lot about perseverance and self control. They earned two awards

Team Piezo Power had a positive attitude and obviously had fun. They demonstrated excellent core values in their support of one another and their ideas. They did an excellent job of communicating their process across the season helping the judges see their creative development.

Team Reusable Reptiles effectively used comments and loops. They had a good analysis of the missions to determine their strategy.

Kudos to our teams for their accomplishments!
