Dear Four Seasons A+ Elementary Community,

 

As our community continues to respond to recent traumatic events impacting Saint Paul Public Schools, you might have questions about what safety measures are in place at our school. Every school in SPPS has an Emergency Operations Plan that is created specifically for each school. These plans are reviewed and updated on at least an annual basis. 

 

At our school, security measures include:

  • A mental health team that includes a behavior intervention specialist, counselor, social worker, psychologist, and school nurse. This team works with the students and staff on a daily basis to build relationships and provide positive interventions when conflicts occur.

  • A school safety team. This team includes school staff members and school administrators who meet regularly and are responsible for implementing our school’s Emergency Operations Plan. 

  • Exterior doors are locked and can only be accessed with a staff badge or by being buzzed in by the front office. All visitors are required to sign in.

  • Phones in every classroom and radios for direct communication with the district’s Emergency Operations Center. Law enforcement and other emergency responders are called in when needed.

  • Interior and exterior security cameras.

  • A real-time reporting system for issues of student safety. Everything from a bus accident to a medical emergency to a weapon is reported to the district’s Emergency Operations Center and acted on right away. Families receive communication home when an incident directly impacts their students, such as a schoolwide lockdown.

Families and students often know things before we do, so please remind your student that it is important for them to immediately report concerns to a trusted adult. Anyone can send an anonymous tip at any time using the Send a Tip tool at spps.org/safety, or through the MySPPS app.
