English 11 is a course that focuses on race and identity through the MN State Common Core Standards. The class explores the culturally diverse fabric of America's people and their lived experiences. We look at literature, speeches, poetry, non-fiction, TED Talks, video, and other various mediums to better understand our reading and writing standards, but also the journey of the student across the country or across the room. There is a great portion of the class dedicated to writing and learning how to do good research. Students will explore absent narratives and hopefully gain perspective through the various discussions, readings, and writings they complete and share.
