Welcome everyone!  This is my first year teaching at Como Park Senior High School. I will be teaching within the science department and for Como's Medical Careers Pathway, a CTE (Career and Technical Education) program. I am also coaching Como's Nordic Boys and Girls Team. I am excited to get to know students and families this upcoming school year! 

I was born in Minnesota, but have also lived in Michigan, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington. I have now lived in the Como Park Neighborhood of St. Paul for about 25 years. My spouse and I have three children, all of whom have attended SPPS schools.  Two have graduated and are in college; one is a high school student at Central Senior HS in the French Immersion Pathway. I feel very lucky to work with and serve my community. 

I am licensed to teach Middle School Science and High School Life Science.  At Como this year, I will be teaching General Biology (including daytime credit recovery), Introduction to Medical Careers, Freshman FOCUS, and Sophomore Seminar (Advisory).  

Before I became a teacher, I practiced as a small animal veterinarian for almost 20 years. I love animals and the practice of medicine, but my experiences working with students through environmental education, time as a Teacher's Assistant and Reading Corps tutor and coaching within SPPS called me to education later in life. 

I believe that all students should have the opportunities to develop to their full potential and realize their dreams.
