Ms. Gordon

  • Hi! I am Nikki Gordon, occupational therapist at The Heights Community School.  This is my 10th year at The Heights Community School!  I work full time at this school with students in ECSE/prek through 5th grade.  I am starting my 18th year in SPPS.  I have worked in many different schools throughout the district.

I attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, receiving my Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.  Prior to working in St. Paul, I worked in a private therapy clinic for 10 years focusing on treatment of sensory processing disorders.

I work with a wide variety of students who need to develop visual motor skills and sensory processing skills, both very important for success in school.  I work with students in their classroom and in groups out of the classroom co-teaching some groups with the social worker, DCD teachers and LD teachers, as well.  I use Handwriting without Tears, yoga, Calm Connect (MeMoves), Brain Gym, Zones of Regulation, music, as well as many other fine motor and sensory processing strategies to help students grow and develop.  I also love to use assistive technology to help students develop their writing skills.  Our school also has an updated sensory room and multiple sensory walk spaces that we have developed for students to use from a generous grant from Ecolab for our students to use daily to meet their sensory and motor needs.

The easiest way to contact me is via email if you have any questions or concerns (nikki.gordon@spps.org).  Check out the links below for more information about occupational therapy in school.
