Mr. Altman's Science Class

Science
  • Welcome to the Science Page!

My science classroom is about exploration and discovery.  I use a "hands-on" approach to science that utilizes the scientific process.   Students in grades 3 through 5 maintain a lab notebook with all of their labs in them.  Students in Kg - 2nd grade will create projects based on the standards that they need to learn.

Five minutes of every class is reserved for hands on explore time we call, "FREE EXPLORE."  During this time the students can "free explore" in any aspect of the room they like.  Some choose the bones and artifacts, the rock collections, model insects, while others choose to take out the animals and sit calmly.

I invite parents to visit and to share any positives or concerns at any time.

We have many animals in our science classroom.   Almost all of these animals can have weekend visits or school break visits home to families that wish to care for them.  It is on a first come basis so if you are interested be sure to check with me in the science room.  If parents have unused animal supplies laying around we would be more than happy to take them off of your hands.

If there is anything that I can do to help your child enjoy science or their day please don't hesitate to ask.  I tell the students that my job is to help them enjoy science while they are learning science.
