Ms. Weichen Wang - 王老师 

Greetings!  

Welcome to the 2023-2024 School Year at Jie Ming! I’m Weichen Wang and I’ll be supporting multilingual learners from 3rd to 5th grade this year. As a new teacher, I really appreciate the opportunity to work at Jie Ming and I am excited to become a member of the community that cultivated this wonderful culture.  

I grew up in the southern coastal city of Zhuhai, which is in the Guangdong province of China. I went to Wisconsin for college back in 2006 and later came to Minnesota for law school. After graduating, I worked as a regulatory lawyer in a pharmaceutical company in St. Paul for 5 years. During the height of the pandemic, I had a chance to reevaluate my career path as I searched for truly meaningful work and real connections. Ultimately, I decided to follow in my mom’s footsteps (she was a biology teacher in China before retirement).   

I have always had a passion for languages and being a bilingual speaker of Mandarin and English is central to my identity. Thus, it is only natural for me to want to accompany and guide students in their own language learning. So now here I am, ready to put into practice what I have learned in my master's program and to support multilingual students in their academic journeys and endeavors.  

This year, I am split between Jie Ming and Global Arts Plus-Upper. I will be at Jie Ming every school day from 9:10 a.m. to about 1:00 pm.
