Hello! My name is Becky Magnuson, and I am so excited to be joining the Mays family as the Assistant Principal! I have been with St. Paul Schools since 2008 serving in various positions. I have taught kindergarten and first grade, supported many schools as a PBIS Specialist, and most recently served on the city’s east side as a Learning Lead. Early in my career, I taught kindergarten here at Benjamin E. Mays! I am thrilled to be back with the Mays team, and look forward to reconnecting with our families and the Rondo Community.

As a school leader, my core values are rooted in building authentic relationships, collaboration, and early academic intervention. Getting to know all students, staff and families personally is very important to me. There is nothing more powerful than human connection and working together.

I was born and raised in the Como neighborhood of St. Paul. I graduated from Central High School and went on to get Bachelors and Masters degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota. I completed the administrative licensure program through Hamline University to acquire the principal’s license. 

When I am not at school, I am busy being a mom to my two young children. We like to keep busy with gymnastics, dance, swimming at the community pool, going to parks, and spending time with family and friends. My family is made up of die hard hockey fans, and will often get together to catch a game- be it a High School game or NHL. Let’s go WIld!
