Hello and Welcome,

My name is Jim Schaldach.  I'm grateful to return to the team at Highland Park Elementary for my second year.  This is my 18th year in SPPS working as a School Social Worker.  For the past 30+ years 30, I've worked in a variety of residential settings as well as public schools in St. Paul, MN, (most recently at Hamline Elementary) and in San Francisco, CA.  

I have a longstanding commitment to bringing joy and creativity to my work as I support all learners on their path to developing meaningful relationships and finding academic success at school.  My work is influenced by play therapy, self-regulation strategies, mindfulness, racial and gender equity, and trauma-informed practices.
