•                                       Ms. Haines

Ms. Haines is excited to be part of the Mississippi Creative Arts School (MCAS) community as an Academic Support teacher. She provides reading support to students from grades 3-5 utilizing the Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words (SIPPS) program. This multilevel program develops word-recognition strategies and skills to enable students to become independent and confident readers and writers.

Ms. Haines has been teaching in St. Paul Public School District since 2000 after receiving her master's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Her teaching experiences include being a classroom teacher for grades first through fourth, being a mentor to first year teachers, and representing MCAS as a union steward. Aside from her current teaching role, she is a Parent Teacher Home Visit Project facilitator and is part of the MCAS Student Assistance Team (SAT). She also leads the school's Sunshine Committee.

When Ms. Haines is not teaching, she enjoys working out (She is a two-time marathon finisher!), traveling, baking, and scrapbooking. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Jeff, and daughters, Quinn and Maggie.
