LEAP provides social studies classes adapted to the language-acquisition needs of its students. Students who are new to the country may require additional focus on vocabulary, special materials, adaptive texts, or bilingual assistance. Though subject matter at LEAP is the same as in mainstream classes, "New Americans" may less familiar with particular topics than native English speakers, therefore, additional attention must be given to building background knowledge. American history, geography, economics and other class offerings vary from semester to semester depending on the graduation needs of students as well as English proficiency levels.
