What we learn about in Third Grade

Structures/ Functions of Plants/Animals:
-How the structures of plants and animals serve the function or growth, survival, and reproduction (including behaviors, mimicry, and camouflage).
-What traits of plants and animals are inherited and acquired, and how offspring can look like adults.
Light and Sound:
-How pitch is affected by rate of vibrations and other factors
-Light travels in a straight line until it is absorbed, redirected, reflected or passes through an object.
Rocks and Minerals:
-Classify minerals on their physical properties (streak, luster, hardness, reaction to vinegar)
Observations:
-Support claims with evidence
-Generate testable questions
-Use tools to improve observations (ruler, thermometers, hand lens, balance)
