Jane Dunlap (Ms. Jane)

Ms. Jane began working as an EL (English Learners) teacher at Frost Lake Elementary School in 2017. She is from California. She graduated from Sonoma State University, where she received her BA in English: Creative Writing, and her teaching licenses in English as a Second Language and Elementary Education. Ms. Jane has taught English Language (EL) in every elementary grade. She has also had other roles in education, including classroom teacher, literacy specialist & coach, professional development consultant, and curriculum writer.

When not teaching at Frost Lake, Ms. Jane loves to read, cook, play with her pooch (Poppy), and explore the outdoors. She also pays very close attention to current social and political events – she hopes that by doing so she can be a better anti-racist advocate, a better person, and a better teacher.

Ms. Jane has lived in St. Paul since she moved to Minnesota in 1996. She is the youngest of four children. She has one sister, and two brothers. Her whole family still lives in California. They think she is crazy to live in Minnesota, but she likes it here.

Ms. Jane loves teaching at Frost Lake Elementary School. The staff are bold, caring and innovative - never content with the status quo. The students are brilliant, courageous, and creative. Ms. Jane loves that she learns every day from her colleagues, and the students she serves.
