Ms. Megan Doerr

My name is Ms. Megan Doerr and I have been teaching at Frost Lake since 1997. I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade and 4th grade.  My education includes an AA in liberal arts from Century College, a BA in Elementary Education from Concordia College, and a MA in education from Hamline University.

I truly love to learn new things and if I can create something while learning I am thrilled.  I also like to travel, go to the theater (movie and plays), and play with my 3 dogs (Oliver, Ethel and Oscar).  I am a retired soccer mom, so I am always looking for invitations to my student’s sporting events, recitals, or other important events they would like to include me in.

I was born in Seoul, Korea, but have lived in Minnesota since I was seven months old, when both my twin sister and I were adopted.  I have lived in a variety of cities, but currently reside in Maplewood.  When not fising, my son is currently attending Century College.  I have four bonus sons, and two beautiful bonus grandsons. Then there are my 3 fur babies.

I consider Frost Lake my second home and am proud that our vision includes racial equity, creating partnerships with families and community and personalized learning for all.  I believe that relationships are the key to having a successful school year and that every child should see themselves represented in their education.  I consider myself a life long learner and am blessed to be learning alongside Frost Lake Schholars.  “The teacher is the one who gets the most out of the lessons, and the true teacher is the learner.” -Elbert Hubbard
