Dear Gordon Parks High School Community,
I am pleased to share with you that I have selected a new leader for Gordon Parks High School. Please join me in welcoming Shandyn Benson as your school’s principal beginning in the 2023-24 school year. We are grateful for Principal Gauer for her service to Gordon Parks and SPPS and wish her well in retirement.
Principal Benson has spent the last two years as an assistant principal at Washington Technology Magnet School. She’s also worked as a Teacher on Special Assignment within SPPS, and worked at Harding High School for nine years as a social studies teacher and MVP coordinator. Principal Benson served as an administrative intern at Gordon Parks in 2009. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Saint Mary’s University.
Principal Benson looks forward to partnering with families, students, staff and the community to continue the great work at Gordon Parks.
