About Lovin' the Skin I'm In

Lovin' Sisters
  • Inspired by author Sharon G. Flake’s book The Skin I’m In, which has captivated and transformed readers globally for over 20 years, SoulTouch Productions’ Lovin’ the Skin I’m In (Lovin’) movement explores societal standards of beauty and media influences on self-esteem and identity. For the past 10 years, the Lovin’ movement has engaged groups of young people and adults in potential life changing experiences of personal development, social impact and cultural enrichment. The Lovin’ movement serves as a catalyst for personal and community healing, by nurturing and promoting the positive and powerful voices, images and visions of our youth. Lovin’ is committed to giving them the emotional, mental, spiritual support and tools to “love the skin they’re in”. As Gordon Parks did, this movement will prepare, protect and promote young women to “take their rightful place in our community and the world.”
