Leadership Change at Gordon Parks High School
Dear Gordon Parks High School Community,
I am writing to let you know that Principal Traci Gauer has informed us that she has decided to retire at the end of this school year. Principal Gauer will remain at Gordon Parks throughout the remainder of this school year. We are grateful for her 27 years of service to Saint Paul Public Schools and 10 years to Gordon Parks.
As we move forward in selecting the next principal of Gordon Parks High School, we want to make sure you are informed and involved. We will miss Principal Gauer at Gordon Parks, and SPPS will find an excellent leader for this community.
The principal position will be posted this week. After submitting their applications, the candidates’ applications will be reviewed.
Next, we will conduct school-level interviews with a small team, including two Gordon Parks parents, two Gordon Parks staff members, a Gordon Parks student, myself and a member of our Human Resources staff.
Principal Gauer worked with your school community to select the student, parent/community and staff representatives and two site-specific questions to be included in the interview. Our goal is to be able to announce the new leader to the staff and community before the end of the school year.
