Madame Stephenson enseigne la Maternelle à l'Etoile Du Nord French Immersion School depuis 2002. Elle a une certification de professeur de français et d'allemand de l'université de Saint Thomas et une certiffication de professeur des écoles de l'université de Hamline. Elle a aussi une maîtrise en "Curriculum and Instruction" de l'université de Sainte Catherine. Madame Stephenson a enseigné le français et l'allemand en Hongrie pendant deux ans et dans des écoles de langues privées avant de trouver son poste de maîtresse de Maternelle à l'Etoile Du Nord French Immersion.

Quand elle n'est pas à l'école, elle aime lire, regarder un bon film ou un reportage, faire des mots fléchés (en français seulement!), tricoter et jouer avec ses 3 chats (Morgen, Pumpkin et Mabel) et son chien (Nikki). En été, elle adore voyager et a déjà visité 45 des 50 états américains et 7 pays de l'Union Européenne.

Madame Stephenson habite à Saint Paul depuis 1996. Ses deux filles sont elles aussi allées à l'Etoile Du Nord et ont continué avec le programme de français au niveau secondaire. Donc, si vous avez des questions sur l'articulation du programme, elle sera contente d'y répondre car elle est aussi une maman! Son mari enseigne à Twin Cities German Immersion School.

Madame Stephenson vient de France et est très heureuse de partager sa langue et sa culture avec les petits.  Elle est née à l'ouest de la France au bord de l'Atlantique, dans une petite ville réputée pour ses huîtres. Dès son plus jeune âge, elle a développé une fascination pour les langues étrangères et a commencé à étudier d'abord l'allemand, puis l'anglais et le latin au collège. Après le baccalauréat, elle a fait des études d'allemand pour devenir professeur d'allemand. Durant ses années universitaires, elle a eu l'opportunité d'étudier en Allemagne and a adoré cette expérience qui lui a ouvert les yeux sur le monde.

Madame Stephenson est très heureuse d'enseigner dans cette merveilleuse école où les enfants ont tant de possibilités. Ça la fascine toujours de voir comment de jeunes enfants peuvent apprendre si bien et si vite. Elle espère que ses élèves vont apprendre beaucoup de choses cette année. Comme toujours, son but est de voir ses élèves apprendre et grandir dans tous les domaines: personnel, emotionel, social, académique et linguistique. Elle a hâte d'entendre ses élèves prononcer leurs premiers mots en français.

Madame Stephenson has been teaching Kindergarten at l’Etoile du Nord French Immersion School since 2002. She is very happy to teach in this wonderful school where children have so many opportunities. It is always fascinating to her how young children learn so much and so fast. She hopes that her students will learn a lot this year.  As always, her goal is to see her students learn and grow in all domains: personal, emotional, social, academic, and linguistic. She cannot wait to hear her students speak their first French words.

Madame Stephenson comes from France and is very happy to share her language and culture with the little ones. She was born in western France and grew up by the Atlantic Ocean in a small town famous for its oysters. From early on she developed a fascination for foreign languages and started first learning German, then English and Latin in middle school. After graduating from high school she studied the German language to become a German teacher. She had the opportunity to be an exchange student in Germany and enjoyed this experience that opened her eyes to the world.

After graduating, she taught French and German at elementary and high school levels in Hungary for two years, and then moved to the US with her American husband (that’s where the name Stephenson comes from!). She taught French for a few years in private language schools before finding her position as a Kindergarten teacher at l'Etoile Du Nord French Immersion in 2002.

She received a k-12 French and German teaching license from the University of St. Thomas in 2002 and  an elementary teaching license from Hamline University in 2004. She got a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Saint Catherine University in 2013.

She has dual citizenship.

When she is not at school, she likes reading, watching a good movie or documentary, doing some crossword puzzles (in French only!), knitting, and playing with her 3 cats (Morgen, Pumpkin, and Mabel) and her dog (Nikki). Both of her daughters (Shannon, 25, and Megan, 22) have attended l’Etoile du Nord and have continued with the French immersion program at the secondary level. Shannon graduated from Central Senior High in 2015 and from St. Catherine University in 2019 with a degree in Art History. Megan graduated from Central Senior High in 2018 and is now studying sociology and French at DePaul University in Chicago. She is going to graduate this year. So, if you have any questions regarding the articulation of the program, she will be happy to answer them. Her husband (Scot) teaches at Twin Cities German Immersion School.
