Policies

  •  Participant Emergency Contact Information and Aquatics Program Waiver

All participants are required to provide the name and phone number of an emergency contact.  For participants under the age of 18, the emergency contact must be someone other than the parent/person accompanying them.

All participants 18 years or older are required to sign the Aquatics Program Waiver.  All minors must have an adult 18 years or older sign the waiver for them.  Please arrive a few minutes early on the first day to sign the waiver.  No participant will be allowed to enter the pool until the waiver is signed, no exceptions.

    The waiver reads:

By signing below, I confirm that I give permission for myself/my child to participate in the St. Paul Public Schools Community Education Aquatics program.  I do hereby acknowledge that the sport of swimming and aquatics activities involve greater than normal risk of catastrophic injury, paralysis and even death, as well as minor injury.  I agree to assume all risks, costs or losses sustained by me, my child or my child’s family in connection with participation in the aquatics program including classes, trainings and open swims.  Due to the nature of our facilities, family changing areas are not available and children 7 years and older must use gender-appropriate locker rooms.  Further, I hereby release, agree to hold harmless and indemnify the St. Paul Public Schools Community Education Aquatics program, its members, officers, directors, staff and volunteers from any claims, losses or expenses incurred by or on behalf of me, my child or my child’s family.

    Class Placement

If a student is registered for a class that is inappropriate for the student’s skill level, that student will not be allowed to remain in the class.  The student will be placed in the appropriate class only if space is available.  Decisions are at the discretion of the instructors and pool staff.

    Pool Closings

If a pool is closed and classes cancelled due to reasons beyond our control (ie: pool repairs, water contamination, chemical imbalances of the water, inclement weather, etc.), all efforts will be made to reschedule the class session at a later date and/or at an alternate location.  If a class session is rescheduled, a refund will not be issued for that class session.  Additionally, it is possible that cancelled classes may not be rescheduled or refunded.

Community Education staff will contact you as soon as we know of a pool closure.  Please make sure your phone number and email address are updated in your account so that we may contact you in a timely manner. Since some closures are unanticipated, there is a possibility that you may not become aware of the pool closure until you arrive at the pool.

    Closings Due to Weather

In case of bad weather, visit the Saint Paul Public Schools website or local television news stations for notification of school closings. St. Paul Community Education Programs are not held when St. Paul Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather.

    Cancellations

Saint Paul Community Education reserves the right to adjust the length of classes, combine classes, or cancel classes due to lack of enrollment or emergencies.

Refunds, credits, or make-up classes are not available when participants are unable to attend their scheduled class(es).

Please register early to avoid class cancellations due to low enrollment.

    Refunds

Refunds minus a $10 processing fee will only be issued if requested three (3) business days prior to the start of the first day of class. Refunds will not be issued once the class has already begun.  Full refunds are issued if Community Education cancels a class or if the class is already full.
