Abigail Felber-Smith
  • My name is Abigail Felber-Smith. I joined the Nokomis Montessori South community in fall 2019. The guiding principles of the Montessori approach to education aligns directly with my own values and beliefs about education. A little bit about me…

I am originally from a small town in Wisconsin. I studied Spanish and elementary education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I then taught for three years in a bilingual program in the Madison Metropolitan School District. During that time, I also completed my Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education.

From there, I moved to Seattle, Washington and taught for a couple years in the Seattle Public School system. My husband and I very much enjoyed our time in Seattle, but decided to return to the Midwest to be closer to family. So, in 2010, we moved to Minneapolis. At that time, I began studying at the University of Minnesota in the department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development and completed my Ph.D. in 2015.

In 2013, I started working for Saint Paul Public Schools as an administrative intern and then assistant principal at Adams Spanish Immersion Elementary. I feel very privileged for the opportunity to now serve and lead as the Principal of Nokomis Montessori South.

When I am not working, I spend as much time as possible with my daughters, Malia and Noelle. I also enjoy reading, jogging, walking my dog (Milo), gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

Please feel free to drop by my office and introduce yourself and your child(ren). You can also reach me via email (abigail.felber-smith@spps.org) or phone (651-744-5500).
