Kristin Urbanz is a Speech-Language Pathologist at Nokomis Montessori South Campus and recently celebrated 25 years in the Saint Paul Public School District.  This is her first year at Nokomis South, but she has spent time at Nokomis North! Kristin belongs to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association(ASHA) and is licensed by the MN Board of Education.  She earned her Bachelors Degree in English from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and her Master of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. 

When not at school, Kristin enjoys spending time with her husband and three adult children, one of whom recently became a teacher.  She also enjoys hiking, pilates, reading, and cheering on her favorite sports teams the Packers, Badgers, Twins, and Wild. She grew up in Wisconsin, but has lived in the Twin Cities for over 30 years and loves partaking in the variety of activities that the big city has to offer.

Kristin enjoys being part of the Montessori experience at Nokomis and its strong community feel.  She is committed to helping her students improve their communication skills, so they can increase their participation in school, home and community settings. Kristin strives to develop relationships so she can collaborate with her students, families, and the school staff in order to fully support the whole child. She works to improve the communication skills of students who have needs with their speech(articulation, fluency, voice) and language(vocabulary/concepts, listening comprehension, social language).
