Ms. Gail Olson

Greetings 2nd Grade Scholars & Families!

My name is Gail Olson and I am very excited about this school year! Together, your 2nd grade scholars and I will embark on a year full of growth and discovery.

I grew up in a suburb of Chicago, but came to Minnesota for college and have lived here for most of my adult life. I received my undergraduate degree in English Literature and my Elementary Education (grades 1-6) teaching license, as well as completed my preprimary coursework at Bethel University. It’s hard for me to believe that I’ve been teaching (and learning) for more than 20 years! I have been very fortunate to live and teach in both Japan and Slovakia. I’ve taught preschoolers, primary and secondary scholars, and adults. I joined St. Paul School Schools in 2014. I am delighted to be a member of the Frost Lake family and am looking forward to the years ahead.

When I’m not at school, you might find me out in the woods or along the river at my favorite neighborhood nature centers. I love travelling, meeting new people, and learning about the history and culture of places. I also enjoy camping and hiking, hanging out with my family, photography, and reading.

My goal is that your 2nd grade scholars develop a love of learning and become creative problem solvers, fueled by curiosity about the world around them. I strive to develop a strong community of learners who are confident in their skills and trust each other enough to take academic risks, learning from their mistakes and cheering for each other’s growth.

I am looking forward to partnering with you and the rest of the wonderful staff here at Frost Lake to make this an amazing year of learning!
