• AP Statistics has been offered at CASS since the Fall of 2017.

It is an introductory college level course, with emphasis on drawing connections between all aspects of the statistical process, including design, analysis, and drawing conclusions. Students will receive instruction in the four broad conceptual themes of:

    1. Exploring Data:  Describing patterns and departures from patterns
    2. Sampling and Experimentation:  Planning and conducting a study
    3. Anticipating Patterns:  Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation
    4. Statistical Inference:  Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses

Students will have extensive experience in communicating statistical methods, experimental results, and interpretation of data accurately using statistical vocabulary.  Each student will learn to use the statistical functions of a graphing calculator as well as statistical computer programs such as Mini Tab. They will also be able to interpret computer statistical output and perform simulations.

This class has a high focus on real world statistics and finding contextual meaning in numbers and data.
