• Welcome to Dance and Movement Explorations!

This semester long course introduces students to rules, procedures, etiquette and vocabulary required for safe and effective participation in dance and provides a sequential introduction to dance techniques such as warm up, cool down, conditioning, stretching, and injury prevention. Students are introduced to a variety of dance styles such as ballet, jazz, ballroom, hip-hop and world dance. Students will study the elements of dance and explore concepts such as relationships, levels, speed, direction, and pathways in individual, partner and group activities. We will also explore dance history through research and writing assignments. By the end of this course, I will expect you to be able to write, think, and perform like a dancer.
