English Language Arts

  • At Creative Arts, the Language Arts experience is as atypical as it is diverse. Merging the fundamentals of critical reading and writing with art and contemporary social issues, our classes strive to explore new ideas, make the canon of literature accessible, and tap into the personal voice and intellect of each student writer.

Additionally, we value the rich contributions a student's perspective and history bring to literature. Through seminar discussions, teacher becomes students and students become teachers.

At the core of our work are three fundamental questions:
How can what we write shape our understanding of literature and the world?
How can reading improve the quality of our life, broaden our intellectual reservoir, and act as a catalyst for new thoughts, writing and discussion?
How can the exchange of ideas between literate, thoughtful students and citizens improve our composition, and reading experiences?
