ELL 5 is a year-long, high-intermediate English language learning course that helps students to improve their communication skills (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), develop lifelong learning strategies (study skills and digital literacy), and enhance their academic preparation and everyday life skills through the study of the following eight instructional units:  Education & Goals, Health & Safety, Money Matters, Rights & Responsibilities, Career Paths, Community, and Rules & Laws.  

Prerequisites: 221 on the CASAS 83R/84R or 218 on the CASAS 185R/186R

Promotion Requirements:

• 230 on the CASAS 187R/188R
• 70% on the Narrative Reading Benchmark Test
• 70% on the Listening Benchmark Test
