    ELL Math 2

A preparatory course for the rigor of Algebra 1 and Geometry in our Math 3 course. It focuses more heavily on communicating and reading in Math skills compared to our Math 2 course. It addresses the same College and Career Readiness Standards of level C, 4-6th grades. It contains foundational math skills in Numbers and Operations in place value, part to whole relationships with decimals, fractions, and ratios into proportional reasoning. The Pre-Algebra skills are signed numbers, order of operations, basic algebraic expressions and algebraic equations, and simple functions. The Measurement and Geometry skills of measurement systems, measurement conversions, lines and angles, and plane figure exploration into perimeter and area are introduced and explored. Finally, in Data and Statistics typical values of mean, median, mode and range are taught and applied to reading and interpreting charts and graphs, including line, bar, histogram, dot-plots and simple pie charts.

    Math 3

The springboard into Algebra and Geometry skills. It addresses the College and Career Readiness Standards of level D, 6 -8th grades. It reviews some Pre-Algebra skills and then moves into Algebra 1. Algebra skills in Math 3 include Number Properties, Algebraic Equations and Equations using combining like terms and Distributive properties, Introduction to Function Notation, Linear Equations, Slope and its forms, and Inequalities. In Geometry, Math 3 students review lines and angles, perimeter and area of Polygons and Circles, Types of Triangles, Pythagorean Theorem, and Similarity of Triangles; then they explore the characteristics of solid figures of Prisms and Pyramids and their volumes. In Data and Statistics, a deeper understanding of Statistics is formed through applying thought to good statistical questioning, showing equal representations of graphs and their charts, and exploring pie charts, scatter plots and box-whisker charts. Students leave this class with strong Algebra and Geometry skills to move into the high school level Math.

    Math 4

Our College and Career Readiness Level E or High School Level Math. It builds on Math 3 skills in Algebra and Geometry. It addresses Algebra 2, 3D Geometry, and very basic Trigonometry. Math 4 skills include, Exponents and Radicals with Logarithms, Polynomials, Functions including Linear and Quadratic, Systems of Equations and Inequalities, Compound Solid Volume and Surface Area, Compound Probability, Permutations and Combinations.
