Teacher, English Learners

Hello! Konnichiwa!  I am so glad to join the EL team here at Frost Lake. I teach multilingual students by supporting their English language development in writing, reading, listening, and speaking.

I began my teaching career as an intern for the US Department of Education’s “Multicultural Education Project” at the University of Wisconsin.  After graduating, I had the opportunity to travel and teach in Japan.

In 2018, I celebrated my 25th year of teaching in Saint Paul Public Schools.  I have enjoyed roles as a science specialist, classroom teacher, EL teacher, curriculum specialist, and gifted and talented services coordinator.  Even though each role has its own flavor, they share a common theme:  Honoring the whole child and their diverse cultures, gifts, and talents.

One of my greatest joys is finding ways to explore the outdoors as a learning lab.  I love fresh air, the seasons, trees, and animals.  I hope to connect children to the natural world for learning, exploration, and FUN!  Here is a short video my nephew Jack and I made to encourage families to go outside to listen for all sorts of sounds …. https://vimeo.com/406231162

The children of Frost Lake are wonderful!  They are kind, curious, and ready to learn. Thank you for all you do to support your children.

Thank you! Domo arigato!!
