Creative Writing

  • Creative Writing encourages students to create new and unique literary art through storytelling. In this course, students will practice the basic rules of creative writing and will learn from both their colleagues and from professional writers. Students will write scripts, short fiction, essays, and poetry. This course will also offer examples of various author’s works to provide a basis for writing.

    Student Creative Writing Example:

    BLM

A living target for those who do not shoot

    For practice

    But to kill

    Your intuitional mind yells

    Pull the trigger

Obeying what you thought was trustworthy

    You fired the gun

There’s no walking away without a bang

Coming from your sour scented aim

    A gun

    Purpose for protection but instead

    Used as weapon

    Against me

    Against my community

    A body drops

    The sirens ranged

    10-13

    10-13

    Cover for me

    Cased closed

    You walked away

Society and the system are to blame

    Dismissive attempts vocally project

    This will not stand

    But yet

They redirect the oppressed to illusion the facts that

    We are not the same

Laws are the same laws with different rules placed

    Privileged

Supremacy given to those who mask of the color white

    Again

    We are silenced

Duplicity remedies are injected within societies to keep everything intact

    But it just gets ransacked

    Black

    Is what I mean

Crimes on my hands misplaced there by my oppressor

    Because

The color of my skin makes me bleed

    Different

    From others

    Systematic strategies

    Imprison our people

    In exchange for money

Encompassing hands and feet in chains that are

    Bleached with the blood

    That runs

    Rather than flows

    You see

They bring up my wrongs and ignore my rights

    Opposed to

    Believing in me
