Mrs. Vanessa Amaya
Hello Frost Lake Families!
My name is Vanessa Amaya and I am the School Counselor at Frost Lake Elementary. This is my seventh year in the district and my fourth year at Frost Lake. I am really proud and excited to be a part of such an amazing learning community.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with a Bachelors degree in Human Development & Family Studies and received my Masters degree in Counseling & Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
I currently live in New Brighton with my husband, Henrry and 2 kids, Ariana (6 years old) and Benjamin (5 years old). When I am not working, I love traveling with my family, cooking, running, reading and dancing.
Counseling Details

As the school counselor, I provide services to support the academic success, personal/social well being and career development of all students at our school. I do this through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual student meetings. I use guidelines and frameworks developed by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) to inform the work that I do at Frost Lake. I also work closely with the social workers to make sure that all students are receiving the support that they need to be successful.
I look forward to being a part of the awesome learning that happens every day at Frost Lake!
