Reading

• Reading instruction is delivered in a reading block configuration. Reading groups are 3 to 10 students in size and 60 minutes in length. All classroom teachers and co-teachers, both Special Education and English Language, participate in reading instruction. Students use leveled readers to improve their fluency (the amount of words they read per minute), as well as comprehension, or understanding of the text.

Math Instruction

• Math instruction is delivered by homeroom teachers in grades K-5. Teachers use the Everyday Mathematics curriculum which has group, pair and individual work.

Specialist Classes

• Grades K-5 receive 1 week a month of each Art, Physical Education, Science, and Social Justice.
