Video & Photos: Playground Unveiled at Bridge View

  • Bridge View School celebrated its new accessible playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 30 at the school, 360 Colborne St.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, which donated $6,000 for the playground for a Bridge View student's wish, will participate in the ceremony.

The accessible playground at Bridge View, a K-12 school that specializes in special education at Saint Paul Public Schools, will include a zip line, a shaded seating area, ramps and other surfaced areas. Bridge View’s previous playground was outdated and had equipment that did not meet student needs, school staff said.

Flagship Recreation helped build the $214,000 project. In September, volunteers helped Flagship Recreation assemble and install the equipment, as well as help with landscaping the outside playground area. The work was part of phase one of the project.

The school still hopes to raise $40,000 for new blacktop surfacing, a shade structure and more equipment, said Principal Lisa Carrigan. SPPS funded about half of the project, and $60,000 was raised in private donations.

You can still donate to the playground here.
