I am pleased to share with you that I have selected a new leader for Frost Lake Elementary. This person is no stranger to the school community. Please join me in welcoming
Melissa Ehlers as your school’s new principal beginning in the 2023-24 school year. Again, we would like to thank Principal Kalinowski for her leadership, and we wish her well in her next role.
Principal Ehlers has served as assistant principal at Frost Lake the past two years. She’s also worked at other SPPS schools including Mississippi Creative Arts and Cherokee Heights. She brings a wealth of experience in helping all students feel represented and accepted for who they are.
Principal Ehlers looks forward to partnering with families, students, staff and the community to continue the great work at Frost Lake Elementary. She will continue the focus on culturally-relevant teaching through her Equity Leadership. She will also work to move student achievement as an instructional leader.
Principal Ehlers has excellent academic qualifications with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Saint Benedict, a Masters of Science degree from Minnesota State University - Mankato, and her Principal Licensure in Education Administration from Minnesota State as well. She holds a Specialist Degree, as well.
Principal Kalinowski and Principal Ehlers will work together to ensure a smooth transition and a strong start to the new school year. To help, please take a moment to complete a short survey.
