Two UNCF Scholarships Available for Students Attending HBCUs

Students applying to or attending a historically Black college or university (HBCU) can apply for two new need-based scholarships sponsored by 3M and Target, respectively.

The UNCF 3M Science. Applied to Life. Scholarship Program is open to underrepresented minority high school seniors attending Saint Paul Public Schools or charter schools serving St. Paul students, and current first-year college students attending an HBCU or FIU who graduated from Saint Paul Public Schools or St. Paul-serving charter schools. Over the next four years, up to 29 students majoring in STEM-related studies will be selected to receive scholarships and will be eligible to receive up to $25,000 over the four-year period, with funding available for emergency aid.

Target, in partnership with UNCF, has established the Target Scholars Program to provide 1,000 need-based scholarships of $5,000 to first-year Black students enrolled at select HBCUs with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a degree in technology, leadership or design. This program will provide students with four years of academic support as well as mentoring, internship opportunities, networking and more throughout their college career.
