A Survey That Will Better Inform Next Year's Budget

Superintendent Joe Gothard

I am writing today to let you know about a survey we are conducting that is designed to help us make better, informed decisions about next year’s budget. This survey is part of our SPPS Achieves strategic plan work. It will be sent via email to each staff member and will be available to SPPS families and the Saint Paul community as a whole later this week.

The overall purpose of this survey is to gather input regarding priorities for our investments in the following areas:

  • Positive School and District Culture
  • Effective Instruction and Culturally Relevant Instruction
  • College and Career Paths

The survey will ask respondents opinions of the importance of each area. There will also be an open-ended question about additional priorities at the end of the survey.

This survey is part of a targeted effort being coordinated by the SPPS Achieves 5C workgroup to change the way we develop our annual budget by seeking meaningful input from those who fund the budget, decide its priorities and implement the programs and services we offer students.

I can assure you results will be thoughtfully analyzed and will be used to determine next year’s spending priorities.

Your input matters. Please, when you receive the survey via email, take a few moments to complete it.

Thank you for your participation in this important survey and for all you do each day for our students, families and our community.

In partnership,

Joe Gothard
