Extended Day for Learning Plus (EDL+) Launching at 6 SPPS Schools

Saint Paul Public Schools is excited to offer a new afterschool program beginning this month at a select number of elementary schools. Extended Day for Learning Plus (EDL+) is a one-day extension of a school’s EDL program. This additional day of EDL will provide enrichment classes for students at six pilot schools starting in February 2022.

EDL+ is a collaborative program between the Office of Digital and Alternative Education and Community Education. It is funded through COVID-19 relief funds from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) and will be expanded to additional schools over the next three years. EDL+ offers  after-school learning opportunities that provide hands-on, project-based experiences to engage students in topics they are interested in.

The six 2021-2022 EDL+ pilot schools are:

  • Battle Creek Elementary
  • Cherokee Heights Elementary
  • Eastern Heights Elementary
  • Hamline Elementary
  • Highwood Hills Elementary
  • Phalen Lake Hmong Studies Magnet

The pilot sites were selected using student achievement and Extended Day for Learning data. Classes are led by SPPS teachers and community instructors to ensure our students have the best learning experiences. Bus transportation is not available at this time.

EDL+ will be a great learning opportunity for our students. Registration inquiries can be directed to the site administrator or EDL site leader. This information is also available on the EDL website.
